RE: YOUR POSITION ON TORTURE
Dear President Obama:
It is great to be writing a President who is committed to reversing the wrongs committed against us over the last eight years of a Bush – Cheney administration. Your commitment to close the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay heralds a new generation of leaders who are committed to the rule of law.
On behalf of the Berks County PA Democratic Committee, I am pleased to advise you that our committee has directed me through resolution to ask that you go further in providing a full investigation of the possible abuses that may have taken place during the Bush – Cheney administration. These abuses may include the use of torture, warrantless wiretapping and executive override of laws.
Should abuses be established, we are requesting the perpetrators, up to and including the past President and Vice-President be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. No United States citizen, regardless of elective office, is above the law.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and keep up the good work.
Very truly yours,
Tom Herman, Chairman
Berks County Democratic Committee
